Details About the Dolls

The dolls are currently avaliable in three sizes: 8", 12", and 19".

The 19" dolls are men and women dolls and reflect adult bodies.

The 12" dolls are boy and girl dolls.

The 8" dolls are basically smaller versions of the 12" dolls.

• Each 19" and 12" doll comes in its own hand made cloth bag with Kabul Dolls stenciled upon it.
• Female dolls have removable sandals and veils.
• Burqua dolls wear the distinctive face and body covering which is authentically reproduced using pleated blue fabric and decorated face grille.
• Faces are hand painted. Fingernails and toenails are painted silver.
• Dresses and veils are decorated with beads, sequins, trims, and bells, all carefully and painstakingly hand sewn.
• Many dolls have beaded earrings and necklaces.
• Each doll is unique and reflects the individual doll maker's style and craft.
• All materials used are bought in the bazaars of Kabul.
• They are unique in today's marketplace and could well be passed down as family heirlooms.
• They are perfect for doll collectors. They could be displayed on a shelf or mantlepiece.
• Hair is hand sewn into the head, strand by strand, and many types are then braided and decorated with beads and other adornments.

Please note: Because some of the dolls have small beads and bells, they may not be suitable for young children's play. The burqua doll, however, is completely free of such adornments and with the burqua removed, can be a sturdy and lovable cloth doll for a young girl.
